Terra Founder Do Kwon Seeks Five-Year Prison Term Ahead of Sentencing
Do Kwon, co-founder of Terraform Labs, has requested a maximum five-year prison sentence for his role in the $40 billion collapse of TerraUSD (UST) in 2022. His legal team argues that Kwon has already "suffered substantially" for his crimes, citing his nearly three-year detention, including harsh conditions in Montenegro.
The defense contends that a five-year term WOULD suffice, rejecting prosecutors' expected push for a 12-year sentence as excessive. Kwon has agreed to forfeit over $19 million and several properties as part of a plea deal reached in August, where he admitted guilt to two of nine charges brought by U.S. authorities.
